Vasim Shaikh & Shaheen Khan, Founders – CEDP
The Team of CEDP (Council of Education & Development Program) skill institute is founded by the couple Vasim Shaikh who is an alumnus of the prestigious Institute of Hotel Management (IHM-Goa) & Shaheen Khan who handles the administration of the institute.
Vasim’s wide experience in Training and Development & passion for training motivates him to go the extra mile to provide the students with all the knowledge that he shares. He also handles the Branding campaigns across various platforms for CEDP.
Shaheen khan identified 9 essential sectors for Job as well as Entrepreneurship tie-ups with over 1000 clients for placements, association with Greater Bank for Educational Loan & professional Loan scheme for starting their own venture.
Shaheen is also the recipient of the Eminent Educationist by Indo global summit by Chancellor of Georgia. CEDP Aims to eradicate poverty through training jobs & entrepreneurship & upliftment of society by adding one more income member in family. They have also participated in various quiz competitions, field trips, expose & Marathons.
Team ABT reached out to the founders to know more about their journey so far, encapsulated in the responses below.
What led you to founding CEDP?
A large number of students dropping out of education system post HSC, due to various reasons, led to a series of discussion on the possibility to start an incubation training institute. The idea was students can acquire skills as per their area of interest, which would make them employable with a bright career of their choice.
Over the last 8 years there have been students who are pursuing graduation or even post graduation & are opting for CEDP courses, as this ensures they are equipped with skills that would make their chances of being employed much higher.
Tell us about your business model
The overall methodology is a blended model of Theory and Hands on experience training via Internship. The students undergo classroom training provided by the experienced faculty combined with demonstrations and audio visual aid, to enhance the learning.
Further, all students undergo 8-18 months of paid internship , which gives them ample time to adapt to the work culture as well as live training as per industry trends . This internship also eliminates the possibility of “Culture Shock “and possible attrition post placement into the industry.
What are the challenges that you face? How do you overcome them?
The most challenging part of the journey was to collaborate with industry for Internships and placement; however over the period of time we overcame the challenge by providing the best quality skill training to the students by experts for enhanced learning experience, which eventually caught the attention of the industry.
Could you recall any proud moment or milestone?
On this epic journey of new accomplishments, we have managed to Skill empower over 5000 plus youth since inception, we are looking ahead to have the youth and empower them with advance courses, training and great practical guidance. CEDP is more than keen to offer counseling and advice on choice of career and course, with experienced career experts available for appointments.
How are Government policies in Skills Development influencing your work?
With Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi pushing the doors open for “Skilled India” & “Skilled Development” the acceptance and scope for Skill development centers have opened up.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship , along with National Skill Development Corporation NSDC has formed over 32 sectors across various skills such as Healthcare, Tourism & hospitality , Construction , Retail, Beauty and Wellness , Leather Goods , ITES, Automotive Etc are some of the most sought after skills by the youth. These sectors have a huge demand for skilled employees , not just employment a Skilled youth in these sectors , can also get a huge boost under the Startup India schemes promoted by the Skill Development Ministry, also by NIESBUD (National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development) which promotes the entrepreneurship development for Young Entrepreneurs with monetary assistance.
CEDP started in 2010 with the sole mission of providing quality Skill education linked with respective sector employment and has been successfully achieving strides in the same.
At CEDP Skill Institute, we understand the competitive pressure and those rare opportunities, which many students fail to comprehend initially. What would you like to achieve in the coming years?
Over the next 3 years we wish to have a full fledged Skill Incubation college , where each student can equip themselves with the modern skills , also the industry can equip their future employees with skills required for optimum productivity before joining the organizations.
