HID, Soloinsight and CTS Launch Self-Service Visitor Check-In Kiosk for Enterprises and Critical Infrastructure

SINGAPORE, August 12, 2026: HID has announced the integration of its document authentication and facial recognition technologies with Soloinsight’s CloudGate visitor management platform and Connected Technology Solutions’ self-service kiosk, creating an enterprise-grade visitor check-in solution for global businesses and critical infrastructure environments.

The integrated kiosk combines the HID ATOM document reader and HID U.ARE.U facial recognition module with Soloinsight’s CloudGate visitor management and physical identity and access management platform. The solution enhances the self-service visitor check-in kiosk from Connected Technology Solutions, enabling organisations to verify visitor identities before issuing access credentials and to create a consistent, auditable visitor management process.

The launch addresses a growing security gap in large facilities such as hospitals, data centres, offices and logistics hubs, where hundreds of contractors, vendors and visitors may enter daily. According to the release, many existing visitor check-in systems verify little more than a visitor’s name, while reception teams may have no practical way to authenticate a photo ID or ensure that a person receiving a badge is who they claim to be.

For regulated or high-risk facilities, this can create significant exposure, including unauthorised access, incomplete audit trails during incidents and compliance failures when organisations cannot prove who was on site and when. The new kiosk brings document authentication, facial verification and visitor management into a single solution intended to streamline processing, reduce manual identity checks and maintain detailed compliance records.

Identity Verification Across the Visitor Lifecycle

The system is designed to bring stronger identity assurance into the visitor lifecycle, starting before the visitor reaches the facility.

A host first pre-registers the visitor in CloudGate, which sends the visitor an email invitation with a QR code. At the kiosk, the visitor scans the QR code and then verifies their identity using the HID ATOM document scanner, which can read passports, driver’s licences and mobile IDs.

The HID U.ARE.U Face Module then performs live face verification and rejects any scan that does not match the identity document or is not a live face. Once the check-in is confirmed through CloudGate, the kiosk prints a visitor pass on the spot and notifies the host. Returning visitors may also be permitted to check in without a host, where appropriate.

Following verification, CloudGate records each transaction in a centralised visitor record, giving security teams a complete history of visitor activity to support investigations, reporting and regulatory compliance.

Beyond Basic Badge Printing

The announcement reflects the growing need for enterprises to move beyond basic visitor badges and tablet-based self-check-in systems.

Unlike phone cameras, which may depend heavily on lighting, struggle to read embedded security features and carry a higher risk of fake IDs and misreads, HID ATOM captures encoded data strips on passports and IDs, barcodes and RFID or NFC chips. It also detects document integrity features and produces a consistent scan.

The HID ATOM reader accepts QR codes, passports, driver’s licences and mobile IDs through a single scanner, allowing visitors to move through check-in without switching devices or lanes.

For enterprises managing multiple access points, distributed sites or compliance-heavy environments, this can simplify visitor flows while also improving the quality of identity verification.

Compliance and Integration

Compliance is a central part of the solution’s positioning. CloudGate produces audit-ready evidence across more than 40 frameworks, including HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, helping organisations maintain documentation that supports audits and ongoing compliance.

The platform is also designed to build on existing security investments. It provides native support for HID Signo readers and mobile credentials, while CloudGate offers a vendor-neutral layer over existing access control systems. The release says the platform supports roughly 30 physical access control system connectors and more than 150 integrations across IT, HR, identity and access management, and security information and event management systems.

This integration capability is likely to be important for large organisations that already operate complex security environments and cannot easily replace existing infrastructure. By connecting visitor identity verification with access control, HR, IAM and SIEM systems, the solution aims to provide a more complete view of visitor activity and access risk.

Focus on Critical Infrastructure

The kiosk is designed for global enterprises and critical infrastructure environments, a segment where visitor access can carry higher operational, regulatory and reputational risk. Hospitals, data centres and logistics hubs are among the facilities identified in the release as environments that frequently manage high volumes of contractors, vendors and visitors.

The emphasis on data centres is especially relevant as digital infrastructure expands across Asia-Pacific. As facilities become more critical to cloud computing, AI workloads, financial services and public sector operations, physical access control and visitor identity assurance are becoming more important parts of enterprise risk management.

The kiosk is engineered and fabricated at CTS’s Wisconsin headquarters and is backed by a three-year warranty, dedicated technical support, white-glove installation and full ADA compliance.

Trusted Identity in Physical and Digital Environments

HID said it provides trusted identity solutions that allow people to transact safely, work productively and travel freely, while enabling physical and digital access and the tracking of connected things. The company works with governments, educational institutions, hospitals, financial institutions, industrial businesses and technology companies. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, HID has more than 4,500 employees worldwide and operates international offices supporting more than 100 countries.

The new joint solution with Soloinsight and CTS reflects a broader shift in enterprise security: visitor management is no longer only an administrative process. For high-risk facilities, it is increasingly part of identity assurance, compliance, physical security and operational resilience.

As organisations face rising expectations around access governance and auditability, self-service kiosks that combine document authentication, biometric verification and centralised visitor records could become an important layer in enterprise access control.

For Asia-Pacific enterprises operating in sectors such as healthcare, logistics, financial services, technology infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, the ability to verify who is entering a facility, link that identity to access credentials and retain auditable records may become a practical necessity rather than a security enhancement.
