Keysight Expands Signal Generator Line with New Portable Solutions for RF Engineers

SINGAPORE, October 8, 2024 – Keysight Technologies has expanded its portfolio of signal generators with the launch of two new portable analog models, designed to meet the needs of radio frequency (RF) engineers working in a range of applications, from consumer electronics to radar systems. The new RF Analog Signal Generator and Microwave Analog Signal Generator offer engineers compact and versatile tools for testing and developing devices operating at frequencies up to 26 GHz.

RF signal generators play a critical role in the design and testing of wireless products, enabling engineers to create continuous waveform and analog modulation signals. The latest additions to Keysight’s portfolio are aimed at speeding up the testing process while delivering high levels of signal purity and output power.

Among the key features of the new models are their portability and compact design, making them easy to transport and saving space in lab environments. The signal generators also offer an extensive power range, delivering accurate, leveled output power from -120 dBm to +23 dBm, suitable for a variety of RF and microwave applications.

In terms of performance, the new signal generators are equipped with low phase noise (phase noise of -130 dBc/Hz at 1 GHz, 20 kHz offset) and mHz resolution for precise measurements. Engineers will also benefit from fast switching speeds, with tests completed in as little as 20 microseconds, which significantly enhances throughput in development environments.

Additional features include extensive modulation capabilities—supporting amplitude, frequency, phase, and pulse modulation, among others—and an intuitive interface with an LCD touchscreen and remote desktop PC software for ease of use. The new models are also future-ready, with frequency and option upgrades available via licensing.

Joe Rickert, Vice President and General Manager of Keysight’s High-Frequency Measurements Center of Excellence, emphasized the value these new tools bring to RF engineers. “The new RF and Microwave Analog Signal Generators provide reliable signals with a wide output power range, excellent signal purity, and fast switching speeds, all in a compact form. These tools are ideal for wireless communications, digital design, and radar applications,” he said.

The new signal generators are positioned to help accelerate the development and manufacturing of wireless products, offering a blend of high performance and ease of use to engineers across a variety of industries.
