MDEC and EMERGE Group Forge Partnership to Position Malaysia as Southeast Asia’s Web3 Gaming Hub

KUALA LUMPUR, October 5, 2024 – Malaysia is making strides to cement its position as a leading Web3 gaming hub in Southeast Asia, following a strategic partnership between the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and EMERGE Group, a prominent Martech Web3 firm. This collaboration, formalized at the IOV2055 Symposium – Malaysian Chapter, aims to accelerate the growth of Web3 gaming in the country, positioning Malaysia at the forefront of this emerging industry within the ASEAN region.

As part of the partnership, EMERGE Group will tap into its extensive network of Web3 gaming collaborations, including partnerships with industry heavyweights such as Gala Games, Immutable X, TZ APAC, and Sei. This strategic alliance is expected to drive Web3 game publishing and foster innovation in Malaysia’s digital gaming sector. The partnership is also aligned with EMERGE Group’s broader initiative to support Web3 communities across Southeast Asia, aiming to shift perceptions and promote the value of blockchain-based gaming projects throughout the region.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was officially exchanged on October 3, 2024, at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur during the IOV2055 Symposium. The tech-focused event, known for bridging Web2 and Web3 ecosystems, gathered industry leaders, innovators, and investors, all united in their goal to drive collaboration and innovation in the tech space. The partnership between MDEC and EMERGE Group marks a significant milestone in Malaysia’s efforts to become a global hub for Web3 gaming and digital creativity.
