Circles’ SaaS Platform Powers Significant Gains in Engagement, Revenue for Japan’s Digital Telco povo2.0

SINGAPORE, September 6, 2024 – KDDI Corporation’s povo2.0, Japan’s leading digital telco brand, has reported impressive growth in customer engagement and average revenue per user (ARPU), following its collaboration with global telco technology company Circles. The partnership has delivered a 30% increase in user engagement and an 8% rise in ARPU, reaffirming povo2.0’s position as a top performer in Japan’s competitive telecom sector.

Launched in 2021 by KDDI Digital Life (KDL), povo2.0 leverages Circles’ proprietary technology to enhance its service offerings. According to recent findings from Circles and KDL, the digital telco has experienced a 30% surge in user engagement, attributed to its diverse range of services. These include gaming, comics, and lifestyle experiences, which are made possible by Circles’ Sandbox technology. This innovation enables rapid deployment of new features, giving povo2.0 an edge in keeping up with shifting consumer preferences.

The collaboration has also resulted in an 8% uplift in ARPU, showcasing how Circles’ platform enhances customer value and loyalty. The technology allows operators like KDL to expand their offerings quickly and profitably, keeping users engaged while boosting revenue.

Toshiro Akiyama, CEO of KDDI Digital Life, highlighted the success of the partnership, noting that povo2.0’s growing popularity reflects its ability to adapt to customer preferences. “By closely following what customers desire, we have solidified povo2.0’s place as the preferred choice for Japanese consumers,” Akiyama said.

Rameez Ansar, CEO and Co-Founder of Circles, echoed these sentiments, stating that the synergy between KDDI’s deep telecom expertise and Circles’ digital innovation has allowed them to continuously redefine the digital telco landscape. “Together, we are not only enhancing engagement but also setting new benchmarks in digital transformation,” Ansar said.

As Circles and KDL look ahead, they plan to scale these successes across more segments and service offerings, further expanding the reach of povo2.0 and continuing its growth trajectory.
