SINGAPORE, October 9, 2024 – In a bold move towards technological innovation, Capella Hotel Group has introduced Digital Payment Tokens (DPTs) as an accepted payment method at its flagship properties, Capella Singapore and Patina Maldives, Fari Islands. This industry-first initiative sets new standards for guest convenience and positions the group at the forefront of luxury hospitality’s digital evolution.
Partnering with Singapore-based dtcpay, a licensed Digital Payment Token service provider under the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Capella Hotel Group aims to meet growing demand for secure and convenient digital payments. Guests can now settle transactions at Capella Singapore by simply scanning a QR code on a dtcpay terminal during check-in or check-out, using popular wallets to pay for any room charges. Meanwhile, at Patina Maldives, payments can be completed through a secure link, ensuring a smooth and frictionless experience.
This partnership allows the properties to accept a range of digital payment tokens, including WUSD (Worldwide USD), USDT (Tether), USDC (USD Coin), Bitcoin (BTC), and Ethereum (ETH). Guests benefit from fast, secure transactions without the need for cumbersome currency conversions, particularly valuable for international visitors.
With over 560 million people globally owning digital currencies, Capella Hotel Group’s adoption of DPTs is expected to appeal to a broader segment of tech-savvy travellers. The move also enhances operational efficiency by reducing transaction times and simplifying the payment process.
Cristiano Rinaldi, President of Capella Hotel Group, highlighted the importance of this development: “We are proud to be one of the first Singapore-based hotel groups to accept digital payment tokens, underscoring our commitment to innovation and unparalleled service. With our guests at the heart of everything we do, it was a natural step to align with their evolving preferences. This is just the beginning of our journey into the digital asset space, and we look forward to exploring more innovative ways to enhance the guest experience.”
Rinaldi added that integrating DPTs not only enhances guest convenience but also boosts operational efficiency by streamlining international payments. He noted that more Capella and Patina properties are expected to adopt this payment method in the future, further solidifying the group’s commitment to staying ahead of industry trends.
With this move, Capella Hotel Group is setting a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in the digital age, offering guests a seamless blend of convenience and cutting-edge technology.
