MANILA, September 12, 2024 – In a groundbreaking move towards digital transformation, the Philippine government has introduced the eGovPH App, an all-in-one digital platform that offers citizens seamless access to government services and stores digitized identity documents. Developed in collaboration with HID, a global leader in trusted identity solutions, and local system integrator FMC Research Solutions Inc., the app integrates HID’s goID Software Development Kit (SDK), making it the first ISO-compliant digital national ID system in Asia.
Launched by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the eGovPH App simplifies and accelerates processes for Filipinos by allowing them to store their digital national ID, PRC ID, PhilHealth credentials, and more. With over 6 million downloads to date, the app is poised to hit 10 million by the end of 2024, underscoring its role in enhancing convenience for both government services and identity verification.
Craig Sandness, Senior Vice President at HID, remarked, “This project not only improves government service efficiency but also ensures citizens can securely access and use their IDs. The adoption of HID’s technology will deliver innovative, secure, and user-friendly solutions to the Filipino people.”
As the country approaches 97% smartphone penetration by 2029, the app capitalizes on this trend, streamlining essential services like business registration, tax payments, and social security benefits. The app also facilitates outbound and inbound travel declarations, simplifying the registration of SIM cards, and integrating personal documents required for various government and private transactions.
DICT Secretary Ivan John E. Uy emphasized, “The eGovPH App offers Filipinos the ease of accessing multiple services with their digital national IDs and brings the country closer to true digital transformation.”
The app’s ISO 23220 compliance ensures global interoperability, a key feature for the 10.2 million Filipinos residing abroad, allowing their mobile IDs to be accepted across platforms worldwide. With this milestone, the Philippine government reinforces its commitment to secure, globally recognized digital solutions, further cementing its leadership in the region’s digital transformation efforts.
