Singapore’s First Thermomix TasteMaster Cook-Off Puts Home Cooking and Culinary Stories Centre Stage

SINGAPORE, August 18, 2026: Singapore’s Thermomix community brought home cooking into the spotlight at the inaugural Thermomix TasteMaster Cook-Off 2026, with Adeline Toh Boon Lee crowned the country’s first Thermomix TasteMaster for her Indonesian Soto Ayam.

The cook-off, held at Paya Lebar Quarter Plaza on August 15, celebrated culinary creativity, personal storytelling and the growing role of smart kitchen appliances in helping home cooks experiment with confidence. Adeline’s winning dish, an Indonesian Soto Ayam, was recognised not only for its warm and flavourful broth, but also for the personal story behind it. The recipe was inspired by a birthday tradition started by a close friend of 25 years, who would make the comforting dish for Adeline every year without fail.

The competition featured 10 finalists from the Thermomix community, who were assessed on creativity, flavour, execution and their ability to express the personal story behind their dish. The judging panel comprised Christine Wong, General Manager for Vorwerk Singapore and Malaysia; award-winning chef-artist Janice Wong; and cooking creators Lennard Yeong and Javier Tan.

A Winning Dish Rooted in Friendship

For Adeline, the title carried both personal and community significance. “I am incredibly honoured to be named Singapore’s first Thermomix TasteMaster,” she said. “Being part of the Thermomix community has given me the confidence to explore and be more creative in the kitchen. To see a recipe that means so much to me connect with the judges and the audience is something I will always remember. I hope it encourages other home cooks to share the stories on their own tables.”

Christine Wong said the winning dish captured the spirit of the competition. “The Thermomix TasteMaster Cook-Off 2026 was created to celebrate the people and stories that make home cooking so meaningful,” she said. “The beauty in having an all-in-one kitchen appliance that takes away the stress in cooking is that everyone can express their creativity and heart through their culinary craft, just like how Adeline brought to life a dish that felt unmistakably personal.”

Creativity Beyond the Professional Kitchen

The cook-off underlined a broader shift in Singapore’s food culture, where home cooks are increasingly experimenting with flavours, formats and stories traditionally associated with professional kitchens or social media creators.

For Janice Wong, the strongest dishes were those that combined technique with emotion. “A memorable dish should make you feel something as well as taste something. Adeline showed a clear point of view, thoughtful execution and a genuine connection to the story behind her Indonesian Soto Ayam. That balance gave the dish its own identity,” she said.

Lennard Yeong said the finalists reflected the resourcefulness of today’s home cooks, noting that they were willing to experiment with familiar ingredients and recipes without losing sight of why the dish mattered to them. He added that the convenience of the Thermomix TM7 allowed participants to spend less time on preparation and focus more on exploring new flavours and bringing their stories to life.

Javier Tan, better known as @bakeomaniac, said the event showed that memorable food does not have to begin in a professional kitchen.

“It can start with an everyday craving, a family memory or the desire to make something special for someone. When home cooks have the confidence and tools to try, simple ideas can become dishes people remember,” he said.

Smart Cooking Meets Everyday Meals

The cook-off formed the centrepiece of Thermomix’s week-long roadshow, which included live cooking demonstrations, interactive activities and exploration of the Thermomix TM7. According to the company, the experience demonstrated how guided recipes, automated preparation and multiple cooking functions can make everyday meals easier while giving home cooks more freedom to experiment.

The strong turnout also reflected the enduring role of home cooking in Singapore as more than a practical daily routine. The company said every meal presents an opportunity to experiment with new ideas, celebrate traditions and create memories in the kitchen.

“We are delighted to see so many Singaporeans embracing home cooking. The success of our first-ever Thermomix TasteMaster Cook-Off 2026 reflects the meaningful role food plays in connecting people, preserving memories and sharing stories,” Wong added. “Through our Feeding Possibilities brand platform, we want to help more people feel capable and inspired in the kitchen, whether they are recreating a family favourite, exploring a new cuisine or writing the next chapter of their own food story.”

Community at the Heart of the Brand

The Thermomix experience will continue at physical stores at The Cathay and Parkway Parade, where visitors can explore how the all-in-one smart cooking appliance can simplify everyday cooking while unlocking new culinary possibilities.

Thermomix is part of Vorwerk, the European direct sales company and global direct seller of high-quality household appliances. Founded in Wuppertal, Germany, in 1883, Vorwerk is an international family enterprise whose core business centres on the Thermomix and Kobold ecosystems, combining personal advice, community and innovative products. The company generated consolidated sales of EUR 3.6 billion in 2025 and operates in around 60 countries.

For Thermomix in Singapore, the TasteMaster Cook-Off represents more than a cooking competition. It is a community-led platform that connects product experience with personal expression, reflecting how kitchen technology, social creativity and food memories are increasingly intersecting in the modern home.

As consumers seek convenience without giving up authenticity, events such as the TasteMaster Cook-Off show how brands can build engagement around the emotional value of food, not just the functions of an appliance.
