SINGAPORE, March 12, 2025 – Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) has partnered with Samsung and NVIDIA to develop artificial intelligence (AI) models aimed at enhancing the performance and efficiency of 5G-Advanced and future 6G networks. The collaboration, facilitated by the AI-RAN Alliance, focuses on integrating AI-driven enhancements into Samsung’s virtualized Radio Access Network (vRAN) software, which will be showcased at Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona.
This AI-powered approach is designed to optimize RAN (Radio Access Network) performance, increasing system capacity, reducing power consumption, and improving network efficiency. With AI-based channel estimation techniques, operators can address persistent challenges such as uplink performance issues, high latency, and inefficient resource utilization, particularly in areas with weak signal reception.
AI-Powered RAN Optimization
Traditional RAN systems often struggle with low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at the cell edge, impacting user experience. Conventional channel estimation algorithms fail to perform effectively in these conditions, but AI modeling presents a game-changing alternative. By leveraging machine learning for channel estimation, network operators can enhance throughput, optimize resource allocation, and significantly reduce power usage.
Samsung successfully integrated AI-driven channel estimation models into its uplink receivers, using Keysight’s Channel Emulation and Core Emulation Solutions in an end-to-end test environment. The NVIDIA AI Aerial platform, powered by the GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip, provided the necessary computing power for AI inference. Simulated experiments demonstrated a 30% improvement in cell edge throughput, highlighting the potential of AI-driven enhancements in real-world deployments.
