Kuala Lumpur, January 25, 2019 – Women leaders and entrepreneurs from across Malaysia will come together for the 2019 Women Icons Malaysia Summit & Awards being hosted in Kuala Lumpur on March 28. This will be the second annual edition of the initiative.
It was launched in Kuala Lumpur in January 2018. Datin Paduka Marina Mahathir was the Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker on the occasion.
The Women Icons (www.womenicons.com) is a thought leadership, networking and recognition platform that celebrates and honours the accomplishments & contribution of women who have excelled in different spheres of life. It is important that success stories of Women Icons be publicly recognized, so that such women not only become role models for future generations but also help change societal mindsets.
Having successfully hosted the Asian Women Icons Summit & Awards in Singapore since 2017, BERG launched the first Women Icons Malaysia Summit & Awards in Kuala Lumpur on January 30, 2018. Aside to recognising women leaders and achievers resident in Malaysia, it aims to engage people, organizations, and governments in the celebration of women’s accomplishments.
The Summit discussion at this year’s edition will be on the topic, “TACKLING THE CHALLENGE OF RISING POPULISM AND ITS THREAT TO GENDER INCLUSIVITY.”
The panel discussion will be followed by the presentation of the 2019 Women Icons Malaysia Awards & Gala Dinner. Over 30 Malaysian women leaders and achievers from diverse sectors will be recognised and presented the Women Icons Malaysia award on the occasion.
“The aim is to celebrate the success and the impact of these women. By recognising their contribution we are not only giving them a platform, we are providing other women something to aspire and emulate,” said Vishwesh Iyer, Managing Partner of BERG and Convenor of the Women Icons Network.
