NEC Malaysia Wins Cisco Service Provider Partner of the Year Award

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3, 2025 – NEC Corporation of Malaysia (NEC Malaysia) has been named Cisco’s Service Provider Partner of the Year 2024, reinforcing its position as a key player in multi-vendor integration and network security solutions in Malaysia.

The recognition highlights NEC Malaysia’s Service Provider Solution (SPSL) unit, which leverages industry best practices and global frameworks to support telecommunications operators and multinational companies. Backed by NEC’s global Centre of Excellence (CoE), SPSL delivers large-scale Cisco Telco Network Solutions across the country.

Driving Multi-Vendor Integration and 5G Security

A certified Cisco Global System Integrator (SI) Partner, NEC Malaysia specialises in Telco Networks, Enterprise Networks, and Cybersecurity. Through partnerships with Cisco, Fortinet, F5, and Nokia, the company integrates Cisco’s Mass Scale Infrastructure (MSI) to enhance network performance and scalability.

SPSL’s expertise spans Multi-Operator Core Network (MOCN) integration, Multi-Vendor Integration (MVI), and 5G Security, positioning it among the few firms in Malaysia capable of deploying large-scale Cisco solutions.
“In today’s fast-paced market, customers demand seamless solutions that drive business outcomes. NEC has demonstrated its leadership in networking and security, helping businesses modernise infrastructure to support AI workloads while ensuring resilience,” said Bee Kheng Tay, President, Cisco ASEAN.

In March 2024, NEC Malaysia launched the Intelligent Centre Operations of NEC (ICON) in Johor in collaboration with NEC Asia Pacific. The facility, housing both a Security Operations Centre (SOC) and a Network Operations Centre (NOC), aims to enhance managed services for businesses.

“Our customers rely on NEC to manage their networks and security, allowing them to focus on growth and innovation,” said Wataru Irie, Managing Director of NEC Malaysia. He added that NEC’s AI-driven networking and cybersecurity solutions help businesses future-proof their infrastructure.

Supporting Malaysia’s Cybersecurity Initiatives

NEC Malaysia’s focus on cybersecurity aligns with Malaysia’s national security strategy, particularly following the introduction of the Cyber Security Act 2024 and the upcoming Malaysia Cyber Security Strategy (2025-2030). With Malaysia set to chair ASEAN in 2025, NEC aims to play a role in strengthening national cybersecurity and protecting the country’s National Critical Information Infrastructure (NCII).

With 125 years of experience in technology and a strong footprint in networking and security, NEC continues to be a trusted digital transformation partner in Malaysia and across the ASEAN region.
