MAS and SFA Honour FinTech Innovators at Singapore FinTech Festival 2024

SINGAPORE, November 7, 2024 – The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Singapore FinTech Association (SFA) announced the winners of the Global FinTech Hackcelerator and Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF) FinTech Excellence Awards, recognising industry leaders and innovators for transformative financial solutions.

Global FinTech Hackcelerator Awards

Organised by MAS in collaboration with the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN), the Global FinTech Hackcelerator focused on solutions to improve financial health. Eighteen finalists showcased their innovations on Demo Day, 6 November, competing for S$50,000 each. The winning teams are:

  • KaiOS (China): KaiOS’s ‘Enable Tomorrow’ solution uses gamification to improve financial literacy on feature phones, even for users without smartphones. The platform’s ‘learn-to-earn’ model incentivises users by converting points earned into coins with monetary value, fostering essential financial skills in underserved markets.
  • WeGro (Bangladesh): WeGro’s Agri-FinTech platform provides smallholder farmers with access to loans, savings, and agricultural insurance through open banking and peer-to-peer lending. WeGro’s digital marketplace streamlines financial access for farmers, integrating services like KYC, loan origination, and product purchasing.
  • Your Financial Wellness (Australia): This platform, designed for financial institutions and employers, offers personalised financial wellness tools. Using data analytics and algorithm-driven personalisation, Your Financial Wellness helps users set and achieve financial goals, promoting engagement and improving financial literacy.

SFF FinTech Excellence Awards

The SFF FinTech Excellence Awards, organised by MAS and SFA with PwC Singapore’s support, received over 200 entries, highlighting the impact of financial technology on growth, inclusion, and service delivery. Eight winners were chosen across six categories:

  • Emerging FinTech Award: Walee Financial Services
  • Financial Inclusivity Award: PolicyStreet
  • Regulatory Leader Award: Napier AI
  • Sustainable Innovator Award: Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation
  • Thematic – Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Champion: Tencent

Individual Awards were also presented to distinguished FinTech mentors for their contributions to the industry.

With winners from across sectors and regions, the 2024 awards underscore Singapore’s commitment to advancing global financial technology and fostering collaboration.
