MUMBAI, April 30, 2024 – Amitabh Chaudhry has been reappointed as Managing Director and CEO of Axis Bank for a further three-year term, beginning on January 1, 2025, by the board of the bank. He will hold this position until December 31, 2027.
Chaudhry’s reappointment is contingent upon the consent of the bank’s shareholders and the Reserve Bank of India. 59-year-old Chaudhry began his role as MD & CEO of Axis Bank on January 1, 2019, following nine years of employment with HDFC Standard Life Insurance Company Limited (HDFC Life).
Before joining HDFC Life, Chaudhry was the MD & CEO of Infosys BPO and the Head of the testing unit of Infosys Technologies Limited.
He started his career with Bank of America in 1987 and played diverse roles such as Head of Technology Investment Banking for Asia, Regional Finance Head for Wholesale Banking and Global Markets, Chief Finance Officer of Bank of America (India), and Relationship Manager in Wholesale Banking for Mumbai and Delhi. He moved to Credit Lyonnais Securities in 2001 as Head of Structured Finance practice and then also took over as the Head of Investment Banking franchise for South East Asia, before joining Infosys BPO in 2003.
