SINGAPORE, March 19, 2025 – Azul, the only company 100% focused on Java, has announced a record-breaking 63% year-over-year (YoY) increase in new customer bookings for its recently completed fiscal year. This surge reflects growing enterprise demand for high-performance Java platforms and cost-effective, commercially supported Java solutions as businesses seek to optimise cloud costs and transition away from Oracle’s pricing and licensing structures. The company also reported 111% and 80% YoY growth in new customer bookings across EMEA and APAC, respectively.
“Rising cloud infrastructure costs and enterprise migrations away from Oracle Java fueled our momentum this past year as organisations prioritise cost-efficient, scalable, and secure Java solutions,” said Scott Sellers, co-founder and CEO of Azul. “We are deeply committed to our customers’ success, providing best-in-class solutions for Java estates in an increasingly complex IT landscape.”
Driving Factors Behind Azul’s Growth
A key factor in Azul’s expansion has been the industry-wide shift towards open-source alternatives. According to Azul’s 2025 State of Java Survey & Report, 88% of over 2,000 Java professionals surveyed are either considering or actively migrating away from Oracle Java, citing cost concerns, a preference for open-source solutions, and dissatisfaction with Oracle’s sales tactics.
Additionally, cloud adoption has skyrocketed, making performance and cost optimisation a top priority for C-level and board-level executives. Enterprises are also increasingly focused on DevOps productivity, further fueling interest in Azul’s Platform Prime and Platform Core solutions, which offer performance improvements and cost savings.
