Indonesia’s largest carmaker, Astra International, has been named the best company in Indonesia by Hong Kong-based magazine FinanceAsia. The accolade was bestowed on Thursday at an event in Hong Kong titled “FinanceAsia 20th Anniversary Platinum Awards”. “On behalf of myself and the management of Astra, we thank all stakeholders who have made it possible,” Astra president director Prijono Sugiarto said. Prijono added that it was not the first time for Astra to win an award from FinanceAsia, adding that the company had received 25 awards over the past 20 years.   Astra won the award due to its corporate performance and management, including investor relations, corporate social responsibility and CEO leadership, according to FinanceAsia.

A number of other international companies received the same award from the magazine, such as Samsung Electronics from South Korea, China Telecom from China, PTT from Thailand and Singtel from Singapore. (dan)
