The fifth edition of TechInnovation, Singapore’s premier technology brokerage event, will take place from 20 to 21 September 2016 at Resorts World Convention Centre in Sentosa. Themed Discover, Connect, Collaborate, TechInnovation is expected to attract more than 2,000 delegates from across the world. TechInnovation is organised by IPI Singapore.

TechInnovation brings together international and Singapore technology providers and seekers to explore technology and business collaboration opportunities through open innovation. This year, over 100 exhibitors will be showcasing more than 300 emerging and ready-to-market technologies.

Designed to maximise interaction between technology seekers and providers, TechInnovation consists of four core pillars to facilitate matchmaking between business enterprises and technology providers — a technology marketplace, crowdsourcing, crowd pitching and one-to-one business matching.

“TechInnovation has attracted a growing number of delegates, with 70% coming from SMEs, since its inception in 2012. Our success stems from two key approaches; we match enterprises with innovators that have developed complementary technologies and we curate our crowdsourcing panels to enable corporations and technology seekers to share their innovation needs and partnership requests. In 2015, active pre-event matchings by IPI resulted in more than 300 one-to-one business meetings between delegates, exhibitors and speakers. This year, we expect to create even more opportunities for collaboration between international partners as well as our exhibitors and speakers,” said Professor Lam Khin Yong, Executive Director of IPI Singapore (pic)

“Through TechInnovation, SMEs are able to access some of the region’s leading technology providers under one roof. It is an excellent open innovation platform to gain insight into emerging technology trends, enrich our network and look for R&D collaboration opportunities. IPI’s facilitation and crowdsourcing solutions have helped Matex unlock new capabilities, creating multiple and rewarding business opportunities for growth,” said Dr Alex Tan, Managing Director and CEO of Matex International Limited.

Highlights at TechInnovation this year include a brand new segment on Singapore-Europe Partnership Opportunities. The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) is the world’s largest business and innovation support network. Singapore enterprises will be able to expand their reach and connect to the EEN partners from the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary and Spain.

TechInnovation also brings back for the second year, its segment on Platform Technologies and Applications, where industry experts will share their insights in two conference tracks:

  • Smart Nation — IOT Security: Smart Cities, SECURED Nations and
  • Additive Manufacturing: Appreciating Design Principles and Strengths of Additive Manufacturing.

Keynote speakers at TechInnovation include Gregg Carpenter, Global Director of Engineering at The Coca-Cola Company; Dr Reza Ghahary, Director Innovation Networks & Communication at Evonik Industries AG and Xander Sim, Chief Technology Officer at Cell ID Pte Ltd. The crowdsourcing panels will feature 16 global and local speakers including Wong Wai Meng, Chief Executive Officer at Keppel Data Centres; Joaquim Llorente, Chief Innovation Officer at Zobele Group; Jennifer Hua, Open Innovation Project Manager, Global Technology Centre at Electrolux Group; and Donald Lum, Assistant Vice President, Technology at SATS Limited, among others.
